Instagram CBD Marketing is a Different Beast

CBD is something of a hot button topic these days. Which is strange because the vast majority of people talking about it believe in its abilities as a healing and soothing product. Yet still, it has not gained universal support because of state and federal laws surrounding its legality.

That hasn’t stopped many people from using what is being called a “miracle drug”. After all, it acts as a natural pain reliever, helps with epilepsy and other neurological disorders, has shown to have cancer-fighting properties, helps with anxiety and depression, is linked to acne treatments, and about a billion other things.

And with the popularity of CBD on the rise, that means the creation of a ton of CBD companies. This makes CBD marketing an essential tool for businesses that are looking to carve out a much bigger piece of the pie in an already very crowded industry.

The problem is that marketing these products is not as easy as it would seem. This is due to the fact that CBD ads on Facebook as well as CBD oil Facebook ads are still not allowed. While Google AdWords seems like it is coming around, other major platforms have yet to move in that direction.

CBD Advertising on Instagram

Instagram is one of the most popular social media apps online with hundreds of millions of users logging in each day. The rules are fairly similar to those mapped out by Twitter: paid ads are not okay, but you can talk about it in your own posts and advertise those products through that avenue.

Even better, Instagram tends to not penalize users as often as Twitter does when it comes to advertising CBD oil and other related products since Instagram does not seem to monitor CBD quite as heavily. This means being able to interact with users more comfortably.

Still, there is the chance that the app could flag you and shut down your account for trying to sell a specific product. This is why using Instagram to educate your audience by linking to your blog or other areas of your website is such a great idea.

Building your brand through Instagram is still very much a possibility and there are plenty of successful CBD companies that use Instagram as one of their main marketing sources. You can even direct people to your website through the “story” feature as well as with links in your bio.

So while you aren’t technically allowed to advertise CBD on Instagram, there are plenty of workarounds.
